Our grandparents arrived in Glasgow from India in the 1960s, bringing with them something that quickly became part of our family’s everyday life.

Masala chai.

The kettle was always on. Family dropped by without warning. Friends never left without a cup.

The kitchen was where conversations happened, stories were shared, and everyone felt welcome.

Growing up, that’s simply what chai meant to us.

After our grandmother passed away, we found ourselves thinking about those moments more than ever.

They reminded us that chai had never just been a drink.

It was how our family connected.

It was how people were welcomed.

It was how simple moments became lasting memories.

As we searched for that same experience in the UK, we realised something was missing.

Most options were either instant powders filled with sugar or weak supermarket tea bags labelled as chai.

Neither reflected the drink we had grown up with.

That’s when we decided to create Chaa Peena.

Not simply to make another tea brand.

But to share a part of our family’s culture through a proper cup of masala chai.

Every bag is made with real black tea and whole spices.
